SAFETY TOWN - Enroll Now !
Safety Town is an educational program for children planning to enter Kindergarten in the Fall of 2020. While the program is not mandatory, it is very beneficial to children. The program teaches the basics of fire, water, traffic and personal safety through fun, memorable activities -- and helps prepare children to transition to the school setting. Safety Town students are divided into classrooms, taught by professional teachers, with the assistance of Volunteer Counselors. Safety Town is sponsored by Huron Parks & Recreation, with support provided by the Huron Fraternal Order of Eagles.
SAFETY TOWN IS A SINGLE, TWO-WEEK PROGRAM, JUNE 15-18 and JUNE 22-25, 2020 (Monday - Thursday for two weeks, NO Friday Classes), 9am-11:30pm, at Shawnee Elementary School. SAFETY TOWN "Extended Camps"
Extend the SAFETY TOWN FUN until 2:30pm. This program is open to kids enrolled in Safety Town. Held at Shawnee School immediately following Safety Town. Pack a lunch! Fun plannned activities with arts, crafts, indoor and ourtdoor games. New activities each week. Sign-up for one week, or both Safety Town weeks --requires an additional registration (see form for details) and additional fee per week, per child. You can also register for EXTENDED CAMP ONLINE! Registration fee for EXTENDED CAMP is $45.Residents / $50. Non-residents - per week, per student.
SAFETY TOWN - Accepting Volunteer Counselor applications now!
SAFETY TOWN WILL BE HELD JUNE 15-18 and JUNE 22-25, 2020 (Monday - Thursday for two weeks, NO Friday Classes), 9am-11:30pm, at Shawnee Elementary School. Counselors should arrive 15 minutes early each day. Safety Town is a fun way to serve your community earn Volunteer Service hours! Applicants must have completed the 6th grade before Safety Town begins.
Safety Town is a program that allows children planning to enter Kindergarten in the Fall, to learn safe ways to approach school and everyday situations. If you are interested in volunteering, you should be available for the dates/times shown above, in addition to the Training/Set-up Counselor Meeting, 9am-10am, on Friday, June 12, 2020. If this is the first time you have volunteered as a Safety Town Counselor: click on the NEW COUNSELOR APPLICATION for more information. If you have served as a Safety Town Counselor in past years, click on the RETURNING COUNSELOR FORM for more information. The number of applicants typically exceeds the available spaces, so apply promptly!
