Fabens may be one of the busiest places in Huron during season!  Our Advertising Banner Program is a low-cost way to feature your message and logo in a family friendly environment; viewed by thousands of people.  We will handle banner printing and mounting -- while you get the well-deserved recognition for your community support!  And your support helps to defray costs on Parks & Rec youth programs. It's a win-win!  More information.

2019 City-Wide SPRING GARAGE SALE - Saturday, June 1st

Held at Huron Boat Basin Parking Lot, 330 N. Main St. -- Sale Hours: 9am - 2pm.  

Vendors:  RESERVE YOUR SPACE TODAY!  Spaces are limited; first-come, first-serve basis.  One Garage Sale space is a parking-space size (approx. 9 x 19')--and you can register for multiple spaces if you choose to do so.  Fee is $14. per space.  EVENT HELD RAIN OR SHINE--Sorry, NO REFUNDS. First race in the series is The Abbey Rose Foundation 5K Trail Run & Kids Fun Run --May 4th at Fabens Park

SAFETY TOWN - for children preparing to enter Kindergarten in Fall, 2019

A Two-Week Program, Monday-Thursday mornings, 9am -11:30am both weeks (No Friday Classes), June 10-13 and June 17-20, 2019.

Held at Shawnee Elementary, Safety Town is 8-days of planned curriculum to help children become accustomed to the school setting, while learning important basics of traffic, bus safety, fire, water safety, and more.  The program highlight is a school bus ride (to practice the safety lessons learned), with tours of the Huron Police Station and Huron Fire Station (they all love huge, shiny fire trucks)!  While Safety Town is not mandatory, we think it is very beneficial to your child.  Pre-registration is required -- click here for program details and registration form ... or simply REGISTER ONLINE.  Don't delay registration; space is limited.  


SAFETY TOWN "EXTENDED CAMP" - immediately following Safety Town

Extend Safety Town Fun until 2:30pm! This program is open to children enrolled in Safety Town. Extended Camp requires additional registration and fee. 

Held at Shawnee Elementary, immediately following Safety Town.  You may register for only Week ONE, June 10-13, Monday-Thursday, 11:30am-2:30pm -OR - only Week TWO, June 17-20, Monday-Thursday, 1130am to 2:30pm -- OR REGISTER FOR 'EXTENDED CAMP' for both weeks!  Pack a lunch--fun activities with arts, crafts, indoor and outdoor games! WALKING AT WOODLANDS (on School Days, Mon. - Thurs.)

FREE PROGRAM - Registration not required.  Safe, comfortable indoor walking all winter long! 

Mondays -Thursdays (only on school days), 6:00 -7:30 pm, through April 2019. NO WALKING IF SCHOOL IS CANCELLED/CLOSED. 

Held at Woodlands Intermediate School. Enter by door on east side of building (program sign will be on the door).


Nickel Plate Beach 

City of Huron Parks, including Nickel Plate Beach, are typically open dawn to dusk. There is NO lifeguard on duty.  Concessions and parking gate are staffed only during season -- from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.  PARKING FEE DURING SEASON: $6.00 per vehicle.  Season-long Parking Pass available -- Nickel Plate Beach 2019 Parking Pass Order Form.  

Beach Water Quality Testing ends after Labor Day.  (Erie County Health Dept. -Beach Monitoring Program for more information)  Map to Nickel Plate Beach

Decals are $5.00 each; donation to the Huron Parks Foundation. Click on the Decal to the left for mail order form. New option: "static cling" decals can be removed without leaving residue!
