NICKEL PLATE BEACH CLOSED May 23 - May 31, 2020

Nickel Plate Beach will be closed May 23 through May 31, 2020.  The main entrance gate will be closed.  Nickel Plate Beach will open on June 1, 2020.

HURON BOAT BASIN & AMPHITHEATER EVENTS CANCELLED THROUGH JULY 14, 2020 

All events at the Huron Boat Basin — Boppin’ on the Basin; and the Red, White & Blues Bang (Fireworks included) — have been cancelled through July 14, 2020. This difficult announcement is made based on continued gathering restrictions and social distancing orders. We apologize for the disappointment. We are so proud to be a part of the Huron community as our citizens, and visitors, continue to care for and help one another … looking forward to safely seeing all of you at the Boat Basin & Amphitheater events in the future!

 

Playgrounds within Huron City Parks are CLOSED

Until further notice, Huron Parks playgrounds are closed, in accordance with Governor DeWine's order of March 22, 2020.   The open space parks and trails are open and we urge you to actively practice social distancing and keep 6 feet away from other park users. Thank you for understanding.

 

FABENS PARK -Ball Fields

Fabens Park BALL FIELDS ARE CLOSED during May to recreational sports tournaments, organized sports leagues, and organized team practices, in accordance with Ohio health guidelines.  The OPEN SPACE PARK AREAS AND TRAILS ARE OPEN with adherence to social distancing guidelines. Thank you for understanding.

 

POSTPONED - CITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE - Re-scheduled to Sept. 5, 2020

The 2020 Huron City-Wide Garage Sale (originally scheduled for May 30th) has been POSTPONED due to State of Ohio health guidelines. The Garage Sale has been re-scheduled to Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020 (Labor Day weekend) at the Huron Boat Basin parking lot. Set-up and sale times will be the same.

WE ARE ACCEPTING VENDOR REGISTRATONS TO RESERVE A SPACE AT THE SEPT. 5th SALE. It's a great way to turn un-used items into CASH!  Sale hours are 9am-2pm.  Vendor pre-registration required.  CLICK HERE FOR REGISTRATION FORM.  Each sale space is one parking space size, approx. 9' x 19'.  Spaces are limited; first-come, first-served. No food or drink sales allowed.  EVENT HELD RAIN OR SHINE. 

We appreciate your support of the Garage Sale, and understand the September date may not work for some who have already registered. If you have already registered, please look for this notice in your mail; and return the bottom half of the form and return to Huron Parks & Rec.  Be aware that future changes in health guidelines could cause the 2020 Garage Sale to be cancelled.

 

SAFETY TOWN CANCELLED

We are sorry to announce that the Huron Parks & Recreation 2020 Safety Town Program (originally scheduled for June 15-25th) has been cancelled, in keeping with the State of Ohio’s guidelines during the continued virus battle.  This cancellation includes the Safety Town Extended Camps.  We LOVE hosting Safety Town, and share the disappointment of our Pre-K Students, our Teachers, Presenters and Counselors!   Our hope is to adjust next year’s Safety Town Program to include those children who missed this year. 

 

BEACH YOGA at LAKE FRONT PARK - Re-scheduled to begin June 2, 2020

We are planning to begin Beach Yoga at Lake Front Park on June 2, 2020 - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am - 11am.  We will continue to follow Health Officials guidance, including Social Distancing.  Participants can use their Pre-paid Yoga Pass to attend Beach Yoga classes that fit their schedule!  More information on Yoga Passes:

How Yoga Cards work:  The pre-paid YOGA Card fee is $50.00.  The fee for each class within a session is $5.00 - so your card can be used to pay for 10 classes.  USE YOUR CARD EACH TIME YOU ATTEND CLASS -- THE CARD NEVER EXPIRES, AND CAN BE USED FOR FUTURE YOGA CLASSES--INCLUDING BEACH YOGA!  So how often you attend class is flexible depending on your schedule! 

REGISTER ONLINE (click on the "Yoga Pass" green box) to purchase a PRE-PAID YOGA CARD;  or at Yoga class;  or at our office at 110 Wall Street.  You are welcome to join any session in-progress, the Instructor will have PRE-PAID YOGA CARDS available for purchase -- just arrive about 10 minutes before the class begins.  Click here for more information on YOGA PRE-PAID CARD. Questions - call our office at 419-433-8487.  

 

CANCELLED WHILE SCHOOL IS CLOSED - WALKING at WOODLANDS 

Monday through Thursday evenings (ONLY on School Days), 6:00pm - 7:30pm. FREE PROGRAM - Safe, indoor walking all fall and winter! 

No pre-registration required.  Held at Woodlands Intermediate School, 1810 Maple Ave.  Enter the school through door on the EAST SIDE of the building --  more entry information.  Many thanks to the Huron City School District for providing access to Woodlands School for this program! 

 

Nickel Plate Beach 

PUBLIC BEACH located off Tiffin Ave., then Nickel Plate Drive - Map.  Hours - Dawn to Dusk.  The park remains open in "off season" - NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY.  More information on Nickel Plate Park/Beach.
