The Huron Police Department is a full-service police department.  We strive to work in partnership with the community, solve neighborhood problems and enhance the quality of life in our city.  We have a strong commitment to the education of our children and a serious responsibility of educating the citizens in the laws and regulations of the City of Huron.

Since the attack on the World Trade Center, the mission of local law enforcement has changed.  Every law enforcement agency, including ours, has been called to assist in the fight against terrorist attacks.  We have been working more closely with the Federal Agencies and we are developing a centralized database with improved communication among all of law enforcement.  We are also assisting in locating and removing any illegal aliens in our area.  The complexity of our profession increases daily with new emphasis on educating the officers to identify, apprehend, and prevent terrorist activity.

There are many duties and responsibilities that the members of this Police Division perform.  Most of these duties and responsibilities are taken for granted by us and the general public.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank every member of this division for doing a professional job.  We take great pride in not only being a police department but also being an active member within the community to help solve any problem.

I would like to thank City Manager, Andy White and the City Council Members for all of their support, understanding, and guidance.  With their help, the police department is able to direct its efforts in keeping the community a safe and peaceful place to live and work.
