The City of Huron Finance Department has oversight for the administration and collection of taxes and licenses and the administration of ordinances and state laws applicable thereto, the receipt and safekeeping of all City money, the acquisition management and disposal of real property, fiscal and property accounting, records management, financial estimating, financial planning, billing and collecting.

INCOME TAX

The City of Huron has a 1% income tax on gross wages and earnings. FILING IS MANDATORY, regardless of whether or not your employer withholds for you. You will be sent an income tax form in January. If you do not receive one, please contact this office immediately.  Failure to file results in penalty and interest charges being assessed and/or court action. 

Regional Income Tax Agency (R.I.T.A.) ~ October 2010

As adopted by Huron City Council on August 10, 2010 Ordinance No. 2010-29 authorizes R.I.T.A to provide income tax processing and reconciliation for Huron City Income Tax returns.  As has been reported previously, the only change that residents will notice will be where your tax return payments are processed.  You will still be able to contact the Tax Department in the municipal building for general questions.  R.I.T.A will be able to provide assistance in preparing your City income tax return as well as offering the convenience of online filings and online payments.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Tax Department at 419-433-5000 x 3.
