Fire Suppression
The City of Huron Fire Division provides fire suppression in a jurisdictional area that includes the City of Huron and Huron Township. Our response area spans approximately 48 square miles.
The Fire Division is a combination department, which maintains a roster of twenty-eight members including thirteen career firefighters and fifteen paid on call firefighters. In addition to being a certified State of Ohio firefighter, every member is cross-trained as an EMT. The Fire Division platoons three twenty-four hour shifts to provide round the clock protection for residents and visitors alike.
The Fire Division operates two engines, one tanker, one ladder truck, one fireboat, one support vehicle, and one command vehicle deployed from two stations. Each piece of apparatus is completely outfitted with the necessary tools to perform all aspects of firefighting operations. One Cairns Iris thermal imaging helmet and one ICS hand held thermal imaging camera are used to increase vision during operations.
